What is action? In the PYP, it is believed that education must extend beyond the intellectual to include not only socially responsible attitudes but also thoughtful and appropriate action. An explicit expectation of the PYP is that successful inquiry will lead to responsible action, initiated by the student as a result of the learning process. IB (2009) Making the PYP Happen page 25

OK, we've learnt some chords, done some strumming and sung some songs so......what next? Inspired by top Japanese ukulele band U900, let's have a look at finger picking. 2012/12/21
Every lunch time our classroom is filled with fantastic sights and smells as lunch boxes are opened. Mairi and Nina thought it would be a good idea to share the different types of food people bring, so took action and organised a "Cultural Food Day". Thank you to all the parents for supporting their idea and cooking up a feast. Thank you to Mairi and Nina for your work organising this event and to all the people that stopped eating long enough to take a picture, I think we can see that a good time was had by all. 2012/12/13
With the winter break just around the corner, students (and teachers) are excited about all the fun stuff planned for holiday. On the other hand, we have to say good-bye to some students. Seohyun is one of them. She has been at HIS for about a year and 8 months. I am sure that anybody who knows her would agree that she has made such a big improvement and has always been a model student. I am sad that she is leaving, but happy to know she is now confident and that she has enjoyed her time at HIS. Here is her memoir of HIS. 2012/12/10
HIS was offered 30 places to watch a kagura performance (悪狐伝 - Akkoden - Story of the bad fox). As this fitted perfectly with our last UOI part of which investigated traditional Japanese drama we jumped at the chance. Grade 1/2 were also very happy as their last UOI had looked at traditional musical instruments. |
