Children need to develop a range of skills at school in order to become successful, independent learners.  These skills are best learned within units of inquiry, and in all subjects, not just with the class teacher.  These transdisciplinary skills are also developed at home, and in life outside the school.

Grade 10 IGCSE English Literature students are currently studying short stories from Cambridge's Stories of Ourselves. One of the short stories of study is The Rain Horse by Ted Hughes. It is a story about a man trying to recapture some childhood memories and emotions by visiting a sentimental area of farmland. The man discovers he no-longer belongs to that place and is chased through rain and mud by a seemingly vicious horse - the rain horse.

The students sketched scenes that would tell the story and posted them in our classroom. Here are some photos of the work.
