So, we’ve been back at school a week already, and it already seems like we’ve never been away. I hope everyone is surviving the heat. We at the PTA have also enjoyed a nice break over the summer, and are just beginning to get back into the swing of things, so please bear with us for a while, as we hope to have news of some fun stuff coming up soon.
Please send your e-mail address to hisptapresident@gmail.com if you haven’t already done so, check us out on facebook and mixi, but otherwise, watch this space!
The following is the Japanese version of the PTA message which was published in last week’s Crane. Thanks to Eriko Shige-Hird for the translation. The English version an be found under “Newsletters” on the school website.
学校に戻ってから、既に一週間が立ちましたね。皆さんはなれましたか?早く涼しくなるといいですね。

Dear all,
The ceremony at the Peace Memorial Park, on August 6th 2010, marked the 65th anniversary of the A-Bomb being dropped on Hiroshima. Many attended this as well as those who watched on television.
Welcome Back.
We hope you all had a fantastic holiday and are refreshed for this coming year. We look forward to seeing you during the Open Evening on September 7th when we will also provide you with a Parent Handbook detailing information all about Grade 2&3. Please check your students homework diary to see their timetable and bear with us for the first 2 weeks whilst we all get back into the swing of school life. We will be happy to answer any questions, you may have, on the evening of September 7th. Thank you.
Two students accompanied me on Monday to the Peace park for the last time this academic year. They were able to hang 4 boxes of cranes out of the 6, at Sadako’s Statue, which we have been sent from schools around the world in the last few weeks.
The Team - Grade 4/5
Here are a few (not very good) pictures of Friday night’s fun. If anyone has any better ones, send them to me and I’ll do what I can to share them.
Thanks to all who came and to those who helped.
Good luck to our departing families, may they have all the best of luck on their new adventures. Come back and see us again sometime!
