Don’t forget to explore this website’s many links on the top of the page. Included are fun activities for kids, such as coloring pages and a book entitled What are Me and You Gonna Do?, as well as readings for older students, such as brief biographies of “Planetary Heroes".

Let’s do our part and enjoy Earth Day, whether rain or shine!

Interactive Learning in 5 Content Areas

2010-03-31 | by Karen Rhodes | Categories: Uncategorized

Join “Digger and the Gang” as they travel through many different lands requiring your help with some difficulties they encounter along the way. These adventures are a great way to refresh your skills in English, Math, and Science. There is also a link at the bottom of the page for Geography and History. The link below leads to adventures for ages 9-11, but notice you can change the age level on the left side of the page. Also available are ages 5-7 and 7-9. However, older students can participate as well. I quite enjoyed these adventures even though they don’t quite make it up to my age group.
Make sure to turn on your speakers.

Hope your journeys are successful!

Word Roots and Affixes

2010-03-17 | by Karen Rhodes | Categories: Uncategorized

Do you ever feel a little “put off” while learning English because as you learn more and more new words you realize there are more and more words that you don’t know? While these feelings are a natural part of learning a language, there are ways to discover the meaning of words you don’t know through parts of words that you do.

Word roots are words in their simplest form, yet the meaning of these words change with added affixes. Prefixes and suffixes are examples of affixes that, when added to word roots, create new words.

Look at the following website to learn some of the common word roots and affixes. There are even some math and science words included.

Now your English vocabulary might double!
