Your group is learning about very important things for human beings.
I think, you often hear the word "energy saving",what do you usually do at home for energy saving ? You will find something if you check some electric or gas consumption bills. Please ask your mom or dad and talk about the best way to cut down on use of lights and electrical devices with your family. Do you have any Energy-Saving Products in your home? Have you considered researching what is known so far about the effects from the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster due to the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami? The Japan Times and other online newspapers should have plenty of archived articles online on this topic.
Another possibility would be to learn more about the disaster at Chernobyl in Ukraine in 1986. Good luck! In response to: Grade 5 Exhibition

To add to Mr Exton`s comments, the Hiroshima Memorial Museum may also offer you information about the damage of nuclear radiation on us and Earth. The museum has their own website or you may want to contact them to find out if they have any specialists who can provide you with this information and see if a visit to the museum will be helpful to your research.

Shinjin [Visitor]
In this play, the mob played a major role because of how fickle they were. They easily changed their opinion on a subject depending on who last spoke and moved them whilst doing so. For example, they were first in favor of the Conspiracy's assassination of Caesar because of Brutus' speech, but as soon as Antony spoke they turned against Brutus and the Conspiracy. The fact that they were a large group made them ruthless and gave them the courage and strength to go against anything, which made them a giant threat.
In response to: Grade 10 English:Tragic Heroes
Shinjin [Visitor]
I think Cassius, Caesar and Brutus were the three main tragic heroes in this play. This is because their weaknesses were what caused their death. Caesar's weakness was his arrogance, which in return made him ignore every warning thrown at him about his assassination. Cassius' weakness was that he had poor eyesight, which in return resulted in his suicide as his servant made a false assumption on a battle taking place far away. Brutus' weakness, or more of a mistake, was that he allowed Mark Antony to make a speech at Caesar's funeral, which as a consequence made the mob turn against Brutus.
In response to: Grade 10 English:Tragic Heroes
Karin [Visitor]
I think Brutus is one of the tragic hero because he was one of the honourable man and respected by the others but after he killed Caesar, some people looked him as a traitor, not a honourable man. At the end, Brutus kills himself which made him a tragic hero.

K [Visitor]
The mob plays an important role in Julius Caesar because they represented Rome.
During the Lupercal the mob had a positive reaction to Caesar after his victory over Pompey. I think that this made the Senate worry about Caesar's popularity and his future of becoming king. This shows that the citizens of Rome had a role in Caesar's fate. In response to: The Mob in "Julius Caesar"
Karin [Visitor]
I think the mob is very important in the play because they change their opinion easily which can effect the story and the characters. For example, when Brutus made a speech at the funeral, the mob were first supporting Brutus but when Antony made a speech they changed side and supported Antony. The mob became violent and their actions led to the civil war.
In response to: The Mob in "Julius Caesar"
Elaine [Visitor]
The mob is significant in the play as as a mass, they have a great influence on the events that occur in the Roman Empire and its political situation. Most importantly, when Mark Antony speaks at the funeral, their anger and actions lead to political unrest, death if an innocent poet, civil war, and makes the conspirators become officially the "bad guys".
Also, the fact that the mob's fickle actions lead to a greater event shows insight to how we can see that significant events are caused due to many things that people may see as "insignificant". In response to: Grade 10 English:Tragic Heroes
Elaine [Visitor]
Most importantly, Brutus is the tragic hero of this play as he truly believed that his actions were the right thing, but his actions were what led to his demise and death. Although his actions in killing Caesar could be considered noble, in the end, his naivety in allowing Antony to speak at Caesar's funeral and his idealistic actions was what led to his death and defeat in Philippi.
Arguably, Julius Caesar can also be called a tragic hero as his arrogance and ambition in having most power in the Roman Empire was what led to the conspirators killing him. However, I personally feel he isn't a tragic hero as his death was not only his fault, but also due to the conspirators' (mostly Cassius') envy of his power. In response to: The Mob in "Julius Caesar"
Teresa Suehiro [Visitor]
I think that the mob is an important part to the play in "Julius Caesar" because it shows the reaction of the crowd to the important events such as the defeat of Pompey and the speech by Brutus and Antony. It shows the perspective of what the people from the outside (people who are not involved with the conspirator) felt toward the situation. The mob would also connect to Shakespeare's day as many people were worried about who would take the lead after Queen Elizabeth. Shakespeare might have used the mob in order to connect the audience in Shakespeare's day to the play.

K [Visitor]
I think that Brutus is the main tragic hero in Julius Caesar.
Brutus wanted to stop Caesar from taking over because he was convinced that a king would be bad for the country. I think that one of his tragic flaw is that he is extremely dedicated to his country. Although he did murder Caesar it was for the good of Rome. Later on, I think Brutus realized that Caesar was a good leader and he felt regret and killed himself. “Farewell Strato. Caesar now be still; I killed not thee with half so good a will.” In response to: Grade 10 English:Tragic Heroes
Teresa Suehiro [Visitor]
I think that Brutus was one of the tragic heroes because he was kind enough to allow Antony speak to the crowd at Julius Caesar's funeral and convince the crowd to go against Brutus. If Brutus had not allowed Antony to speak, Brutus would have been the leader and Brutus would not have killed himself during the civil war.
Julius Caesar is another example of a tragic hero as he had defeated Peompey and became a great general of the war. He was heroic enough to refuse the stance as a emperor of Rome; however, his arrogance toward the conspirators and the soothsayer had cause his death in the end. Portia is a minor character; however, Portia can be seen as a tragic hero as she was worried and wanted attention from Brutus, which had caused her to suicide by eating hot coals. In response to: The Mob in "Julius Caesar"
RK [Visitor]
The mob is pretty important in the play as it controls the flow of events. They are fickle, and when Caesar is assassinated, Brutus justifies his actions and the mob accepts it, but the Antony comes and makes Brutus a traitor. Their behaviours change the atmosphere and events.

I think that it is Brutus who is the tragic hero. He believed that he was acting for the best of Rome when he assassinated Caesar - he didn't have an interest in taking power himself. He also fought well in the war, but died unfortunately. I think that his weakness was that he killed Caesar even though he was loyal to him.

I chose the topic, "how to make an exploding star" because I wanted to know how to make a star explode,I wanted to become an astronaut and why is the universe expanding bigger and bigger! 1. Exploding stars release huge amount of energy, therefore, we can not do this experiment in the earth because this could danger the whole solar system, so some scientist works about a star exploding in a lab. 2. They put electricity into a tube that has a huge amount of energy, 20 times bigger than that flowing electricity of the U.S. And then, they made this tube targeted and exploded by the lazer. 3. Before this experiment, the scientist need to wear special kind of suits to protect themselves from the strongest lazer in the world. 4. When the lazer hits the tube, and tears the atoms apart in it, the tube begin to melt down, pulls the energy from the inside and explode like a real dying star. Machu Picchu, Peru, South America
What is Machu Picchu? It was an Inca royal retreat, which is like a luxury resort and restplace for the priests and the royal Inca family. It was built by the Incas more than 500 years ago. It was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham 100 years ago. I chose Machu Picchu because: - it has an altitude of 2,400 metres - it is so quiet and far away from other places you feel like you are in the time of the Incas - in its buildings all its stones were fitten in very carefully together like a jigsaw puzzle - I went there and it was beautiful In response to: Grade 3&4 UOI - Where we are in time and place
