Guidelines for PTA OperationsMembership in the HIS Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is automatic for all parents who have a child enrolled at the school.
The main purpose of the HIS PTA is to provide an avenue for parents to get involved with the school. The administrators, the teachers, the staff all work very, very hard to provide a high quality, enriching experience for the children, but parent involvement is critical to ensuring the best experience for each child at HIS.
The HIS PTA gets involved on many levels and in many ways. The most valuable asset that parents offer to HIS is their manpower. When parents take on a project, or organize an activity for the teachers and staff at HIS, it allows them to focus their energy and attention on the children who attend the school.

The HIS PTA also provides ways for parents to get to know each other and build the sense of community. The HIS PTA organizes family-oriented activities such as bowling evenings and ice skating outings. The HIS PTA encourages cultural exchange through events like the annual International Festival held every spring. The PTA also provides a list of parents organized by nationality willing to be contacted by new families interested in attending the school.
The HIS PTA fundraises on behalf of the school to support special projects and to support ongoing needs such as provision of books to the library. The major fundraisers are the International Festival in the spring and orders placed with Foreign Buyers Club, Costco, and Scholastic Books.
Each spring, the HIS PTA elects officers and selects areas to spend PTA funds for the following year.
