Principal’s Message
Dear HIS Community
Firstly, congratulations to our Gr12 students who have just finished their IB exams, the last step on their journey, before the next adventure begins. Well done, to a class of young adults who have worked so hard and supported each other so well.
I hope you have all been enjoying the lovely weather. Our students have been out on some fun excursions this week with Gr2/3 at the Chugoku Electric Power Plant Research Institute, the Gr9 Mathematics class to Marina Hop to model the movements of the Ferris wheel and Gr9-12 Visual Arts students explored the City and Prefectural Museums.
This has no relation to our field trips this week, in fact, it could be said that field trips are the complete opposite of boredom, experiencing something new and exciting, seeing it in a different way, out of our usual routine, and with friends just to top it off. However, with summer fast approaching, parents are often wondering how to keep children occupied. I know that I always did. I thought you may appreciate this, especially as it could be said that the rise of the ubiquitous electronic device has impacted a valuable resource for our brains – boredom. You may even plan some boredom for your child in your routines. Hope you enjoy the talk.

Just a reminder of these two very special events coming up:
- The Gr12 Graduation will happen on Saturday, 1 June (4:30 pm – 6:00 pm) at Mitsui Garden Hotel.
- The Gr5 Graduation will happen on Friday, 7 June (4:30 pm – 5:30 pm) at HIS.
