The Crane, 9 September 2016

Dear HIS Families
We have had another busy week week at HIS and I hope you are hearing from your children all about what they are learning, and more importantly, how they are learning. You may be able to get a few ideas for conversation starters from this week’s video. You will notice a different format for The Crane this week. We are trying a blog format, which we hope will be easily accessible on different devices. You will also be able to find The Crane on the HIS website under the News tab. Thank you very much to Mr Nigel Barker for organizing this most welcome format change. Enjoy your weekend.
Regards

Upcoming Koto Concert for Nanoka and Lilico

Congratulations to Nanako (G9) who has been awarded the first mastery level license in the tradition of the Ikuta ryu school of koto.  She will be performing as part of an ensemble at a concert at Shukkeien Garden on Sunday, Oct. 16.  Her sister Lilico (G6) will also be performing at the concert. It is great to see our students performing for the community. Well done, Nanako and Lilico.

Middle Years Program at HIS
We are just starting the Middle Years Program (MYP) at HIS this year (Grades 6-10) and we are very excited about this new journey for our school. Our Director of Studies, Ms Jessica Pechhold  <jpechhold@hiroshima-is.ac.jp>, has prepared some initial information about the MYP which you will find at this link and we will share more information through the year. The MYP curriculum framework will help us to make our academic program even stronger.
