Items Madame Butterfly Homestays for Students from the Netherlands Staffing update for 2018/2019 Late Arrivals and Early Dismissals PTA News 1. Principal's Message Dear HIS Community As you know, we have 10 Learner Profile attributes that form the basis of teaching and learning at HIS. 'Balanced' is one of these. With all of that wonderful technology that helps us out each day, there is the potential for us to lose some balance in our lives. We are wanting to encourage members of our school community to try out some technology-related challenges. We will be asking ourselves to think of some areas in our lives where we feel that the use of technology is interfering with our sense of balance. Items: Madame Butterfly; Host Families Needed for April; PTA News. 1. Principal's Message Dear HIS Community Congratulations to our Secondary Model United Nations (MUN) team who visited Kobe this week to collaborate with other schools in the region. The students were very active during debates and collaborated with delegates from other schools to discuss resolutions on issues such as euthanasia and combating terrorism. With a whole public domain of information available to students, ensuring that other people's ideas (including images) are acknowledged takes a broad set of research skills and a commitment to academic honesty. You can talk to your children…

Principal's Message Dear HIS A word of thanks to our volunteers in the HIS community. Volunteers, working silently in the background and generally without receiving much in the way of recognition are a cornerstone of any vibrant school community for it is through such work that the school comes alive. The ski day organized for next week, the valentines beautifully crafted chocolate flowers and the ongoing work surrounding the HIS playground are just a few examples. This week, I also wanted to highlight our academic honesty policy. Do you know what sort of information would be contained within a policy like this? Now is your chance to find out. What skills do…

Principal's Message Dear HIS Community Two weeks ago, I asked if you could remember any terms used in our HIS Mission Statement. I wonder how many terms you can recall? One of the ways that we pursue our Mission is to promote the Learner Profile within our units of inquiry, as well as in the other aspects of our day-to-day life at school such as the way we treat each other on the playground. My question for you this week is how many of the Learner Attributes can you recall. If you can't think of the ten, please ask your child. Enjoy your long weekend. Kind regards Damian…
