Principal’s Message

Dear HIS Community

We had a busy three days with our accreditation visit and I would like to thank all of the students, teachers, parents and Board members who participated. They four-person team spent the three days meeting everyone and spending time in classrooms and provide detailed feedback to us as we prepare for a self-study that will continue through to the end of next year. It is a long process. We receive a report in about 4-weeks time so I will give you an update on their findings.

Also, mark your calendars for Friday 16 November when we have our Bonfire Night. It is a fun event and please sign up at the link below so the organizers know how many people to plan for. That will help our kind volunteers out. Thank you.

Finally, good luck to the HIS Model United Nations team in Korea at the moment, all looking very professional.

Japan Culture Day

Dear Parents,

The Japanese department is planning to hold “Japan Culture Day 2019” for PYP students on the first day back at school to experience and learn how Japanese people have celebrated the new year over time.

Please contact Yumi sensei  at ykyogoku@hiroshima-is.ac.jp by Friday 16th November if you can participate and support at one of our carousel stations

• calligraphy

• origami

• karuta card game

• Japanese traditional games such as cat’s cradle, kendama, juggling, and etc

• support groups of students to move to the next carousel station

In order to minimize any confusion on the day, we would like to organise volunteers at specific stations and share detailed information prior to the event.

日本語科は今年も冬休み明け初日にジャパンカルチャーデーを開催し、生徒達に日本の伝統・遊びを楽しみながら学んでもらいたいと思っています。つきましては、当日以下のカルーセルステーションでお手伝いをして頂ける方を募集しています。

• お習字

• カルタ

• おりがみ

• 日本の伝統的な遊び (だるまおとし、あやとり、けん玉、お手玉、竹とんぼ等)

• 紙芝居など

• ステーション移動時の生徒の引率等

ご興味のある方は１１月１６日金曜日までに日本語科、京極悠美までご連絡下さい。当日の混乱を避けるため事前に細かな計画を立て、詳しい手順を共有させて頂く予定です。そのため、お手伝い頂く方は事前にご連絡頂いた方のみとさせて頂きますのでご了承下さい。
