Principal’s Message
Dear HIS Community
We were very happy to receive so many entries for HIS Idol this great and I would like to thank Nami, Mr B, and Mr Washington for all of the work organizing this great event. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to express themselves in a variety of creative ways and we often see sides of our students that we may not see on a day-to-day basis. Well done to all you risk-takers out there.
Speaking of our creative, risk-takers, below is a presentation by one of our HIS Alumni, Taiga Ishibashi, who is doing exciting work in the music industry. Taiga was kind enough to speak with our students about his pathway into the Arts and we particularly appreciate Taiga’s willingness to re-record this after we had a technical issue with the original presentation recording. Much appreciated, Taiga. Congratulations on all your successes.
This week’s TED Talk is a great one about the power of music and the speaker challenges some strongly embedded cultural biases and stereotypes related to certain emotions. It is a great exploration about how certain music can make us feel and why people tend to like sad songs. Listening to some of the questions the speaker was asking, I was reminded of the importance of this sort of inquiry in our IB programs. I hope you all enjoy the weekend.

Theory of Knowledge Exhibition
The class of 2023 would like to invite parents and other members of the HIS community to attend our TOK (Theory of Knowledge) Exhibition. The exhibition will be held on Friday, April 8th and will be open to parents from 16:00 to 17:45. This exhibition will present our learning in TOK in our first year of the DP and will explore the ways in which knowledge is manifested in the physical world. We would be happy if you could attend.
Message from HIS Idol
Dear Parents,
The deadline for signing up for this year’s HIS IDOL school talent show has passed. We are pleased to see we have more than 20 entries and about 5 class act entries.
Since these videos will be shared publicly on the schools online channels including social networks, we would just like to make sure that you are ok with this.
If you are NOT ok with your child’s image being shared online in this way, please let us know ASAP. Please check with your child or the class teacher to find out whether their class is taking part as a group.
Please remember that the deadline for submission of videos is March 31st. We can’t way to see this years entries!

The Sign-Up for HIS IDOL is closed. We have confirmed a lot of applications. We appreciate your courage and challenging spirit! The deadline for submitting your work is Thursday, March 31. We are really looking forward to seeing your hard work!

◆ Hoodies Order (Deadline: Friday 8th Apr) フーディー 注文 (4月8日(金) 締切)
We are now accepting orders for HIS Hoodies.
The deadline for this order is April 8th (Friday). We are planning to distribute the hoodies on the week of April 25th, before the Golden Week holidays.
Please specify the name, grade, amount and number of hoodies ordered on the envelope and hand it to the office. Please note that delivery will be after the payment is received.
* As stated in the Google Form, please be sure to proceed to click the final “SUBMIT” to complete your order.

◆ The Scholastic / Baker Books Order (Deadline: Mon 4/4) スコラスティック ／ ベイカーブックス オーダー(4/4月曜日締切)
We are running our final order for Scholastic / Baker Books for this year!
We had announced it would be around Golden Week, but we decided to bring it forward to match the availability of the April paper catalogue.
Your child will bring home a paper catalogue today or earlier next week, but please note we are only accepting online orders – the catalogue is only for browsing purposes.
Every $1 you spend on this month’s Book Club will earn 20¢ for our school in Scholastic Rewards. This is an opportunity to contribute to the school as these will be used to add books to the library.
