December is here. The air is cool and crisp. The sweet aroma of chocolate chip muffins permeates the air! Over 220 HIS Hoodies will be arriving soon! The HIS corridors are filled with jolly décor and cheer.

The Festive Spirit has taken over HIS!

Many events are approaching. It has been whispered that Santa may even swoop in for a quick pre-holiday visit!

The Wolfpack Korean Hot Lunch will warm our souls.

The Winter Holiday Assembly is sure to be a hit.

And, of course, Festive Eve is coming this Saturday, December 9!

Finally, If you have not done so, please register today for the PTA Lunch at the Hilton on Dec 13. It is bound to be a great time!

Festive Eve Update                             

Saturday, Dec. 9th 14:00-17:30    

Program:  This year, we will be presenting Fame. The story of the musical follows the final class of New York City’s celebrated High School of the Performing Arts from 1980 to 84. The choir (all G3-5) will be singing selected pieces during the musical, and all primary classes will be presenting class dance acts. The G6-10 orchestra will be performing an overture. The cast are supported by the backstage crew who are taking all areas of responsibilities behind the scenes.

Costumes & Concert Attire: 

CAST MEMBERS  

All costume related items in school by Sun. Dec. 3rd CAST Run-through Day

Final Dress Rehearsals will be on Friday, Dec. 8th. Please mark names clearly on all items.

All Primary Class Act Students: As per “TODDLE Announcement” Nov. 9th 再送 Nov. 28thを参照願います。

All costume related items in school as soon as they are ready; they were due Nov. 27th. Please put all items in a strong shopping bag with the student’s name and grade on it.

Hair and Make-Up   

Costume team will work on light face painting at school but hair styling can be done at home. There are no specifications and ‘special feel’ of the child is the priority.

G6-10 Orchestra Concert Attire オーケストラ演奏者服装規準

  • White shirt with collar and dark pants, Suit & Tie
  • Dark Dress OR White blouse and Dark Pants/Skirt  
  • Calf length or longer is more appropriate for this occasion if you have a choice.

Saturday, Dec. 9th Schedule: There will be NO SCHOOL BUSES on this day.
(Monday, Dec. 11th 代休 No school in lieu of Saturday performance)

  • 10:00           Cast & Backstage Crew only arrival 
  • 12:45           Primary/Secondary Students arrival (no sooner than 12:30 please)
  • Students will go directly to their homerooms. 
  • 13:00           G6-10 Orchestra soundcheck rehearsal
  • 13:30           DOORS OPEN 
  • 14:00           Curtain Opens

Parking:  School ground will be opened for PARKING. Safety guards will be directing you.

Indoor Slippers:  Please prepare indoor slippers to protect the gym floor.

Something Warm:  Heating in the gym will not be on during the performance. Please wear something warm in layers. 

Student Seating and Program Order:

All students will be seated with the class until the end of the program. 

The program order is as follows:

  • Overtures by G6 Orchestra & G7-10 Orchestra
  • EC/KG class: Act 1 “Dance Class” 
  • G3-4 class: Act I “Hot Lunch Jam”
  • G1-2 class: Act II Opening “Red Light” 
  • G5 class: Act II “Dancin’ On the Sidewalk”
  • G3-5 Choir will be singing through both Acts 
  • Selected Orchestra members will perform the Encore “I Sing the Body Electric”

Clean Up:

For all secondary students, community responsibility is an important part of their learning expectations. Orchestra members are expected to safely put away the instruments and take them home after the program. Thank you for your understanding.

From The PTA Wolfpack

Thank you to everyone who helped with Let’s Bake and the Bake Sale at school last week! 

Our next Hot Lunch will be Dec 14! .  We are making Pork Yakiniku rice bowl and Yachaejeon, a Korean vegetable pancake. We are offering 3 sizes, Small – 400¥, Medium – 500¥, and Large for 600¥. Order forms will come home on Monday. If you would like to order the Hot Lunch please fill it out and put your money in the envelope provided by Friday, Dec. 8. If you need a replacement envelope they will be in the office.

Christmas is almost here! Remember we are asking families to donate snacks and treats for the students. The treats will be given out at the assembly on Dec. 15. We will have a box in the Genkan until  Dec. 12 for the donations. Please, no snacks or treats with nuts due to allergies of students.

On Dec 13 before the Hilton Wolfpack Lunch we will be packing snack bags with the Christmas treats to give out on Dec. 15. If you would like to help please meet us in the Genkan at 9:00!
