Hanami Celebrations

It’s cherry blossom season in Hiroshima and everyone is enjoying the beautiful atmosphere. The G11 class experienced the beauty and splendour in a local park Friday at lunch.

The entire Primary School traveled to Haji Dam on Tuesday to enjoy the ‘Sakura’ there. It was the first day that the blossoms had opened, so the spirit was exuberant! Thank you to the PTA Wolfpack for supporting this event.

TOK Exhibition on April 11

The Theory of Knowledge Exhibition 2024 will be taking place next week Thursday, 11th April. Our Grade 11’s have been working hard to curate an exhibition of everyday objects that represent different aspects of what it means to be a ‘knower’.

This exhibition is a part of the formal assessment of the TOK course and their discussions and interactions with an audience represents an invaluable opportunity to develop their ideas and understanding further. So please ask questions!

We would like to invite parents to come to the afternoon session to see what TOK looks like in practice and share in the learning journey of our year 1 DP students. This session will be held in the Humanities room and the Library from 15:45-17:00.

Thank you!

Secondary Debate Club

Hello Secondary Students!

We are the HIS debate club. We created the debate club in the hopes that people enjoy debating on a variety of topics from daily topics to social issues, and to provide opportunities to engage with other schools, such as online debate sessions and Model UN conferences.

If you are interested in making friends from other schools, gaining deeper knowledge on various topics, and improving your public speaking skills, this club is perfect for you!

Also, just coming to the club and enjoying debate is appreciated!!!

We will be meeting every Tuesday, (until 17:00) and discussing topics we decided to debate on such as…

  • Use Of AI
  • Effects of technology on health
  • Animal Testing

However, we are open to new ideas, so please let us know if you have some!!

We are currently recruiting new members to join us to explore debating, and if you are interested, please join our Slack room. (Even if you are not sure you can commit every week, please feel free to do so!)

The next club session is next week on Tuesday after school in the lab.

Thank you and we are looking forward to your participation!

PTA Wolfpack Update

This week was busy with preparations for the International Festival. Thank you to everyone who helped this week with putting out fliers, getting ticket orders ready, bringing in bazaar items and of course helping with all the baking!

This week the MYP students are finalizing their Festival Activities, we are still baking, and all of our International Cafe chefs are starting to make foods for this weekend. Set up will start on Friday, April 12, at 15:00. We need help with setting up tents and tables. If you can help on Friday please meet us in the genkan area!

We are still looking for volunteers to fill volunteer slots on the day of the Festival, please click here to sign up.

If you haven’t already please bring in something for the bazaar, we are still collecting items in the genkan.

We are looking for the following items:

  • Extension cords, extra long
  • Tins for collection money/tickets at cafes
  • Paper bags for bazaar

After the Festival, the trash truck is coming at 16:00. If everyone could help with clean up and  trash collection so we have it ready at 16:00 for the truck we would greatly appreciate it.

Reminder: April 8th is the deadline for applying for childcare for your KG or younger children while you are volunteering. We cannot accept children the day of the event who are not registered so please sign up as soon as possible! Click here to sign up.
