Counselor’s Corner Update!
This week, we officially kicked off our Inside Out SEL Film Series! Students in Grades 3-6 began watching Inside Out 1, while students in Grades 7-11 started Inside Out 2. These films offer a creative and relatable way to explore complex emotions, personal growth, and the inner workings of our minds which is perfect for wrapping up a year of Social Emotional Learning.
As students watch, they’ll engage in discussions and activities that connect the films to key SEL themes such as emotional awareness, self-motivation, identity, resilience, and developing growth mindsets. We’re excited to see how the stories and characters spark reflection, empathy, and curiosity in the classroom.
You can support this learning at home by asking:
- What emotions did you notice most in the film so far?
- Did anything in the movie remind you of your own experiences?
- Why do you think we have all these emotions? How can understanding our emotions help us?
Meanwhile, our EC/KG and Grade 1/2 students will be engaging in hands-on activities that revisit the core themes of SEL we’ve focused on throughout the year. Through stories, games, and reflection, they are revisiting important skills such as identifying emotions, self-regulation, friendship, and kindness in fun and developmentally appropriate ways.
We look forward to meaningful conversations and reflections in the coming weeks as students finish the films and apply what they’ve learned to their own emotional journeys. 💛✨
