Welcome from James Steward After a week of illness infiltrating our community, life returned to normal this past week.  Frigid temperatures and snow graced the campus. Students enjoyed playing in the fresh snow.  We had a lively PE Assembly with students and teachers displaying their talents. It is said that a famous unicyclist even showed up. It is also possible that Mr Chris performed a headstand. You will only know if you access the HIS Photo Gallery link below. Finally, we capped the week off with an exciting basketball game featuring our HIS Wolves and MC Perry. Cheerleaders appeared in record numbers sporting some crazy hair! Thank you to our wonderful PTA parents for providing food and drinks after the match! It was a battle of the titans with our…

Welcome from James Steward Takako-sensei and her amazing TEAM’s performance of FAME have now made an entire school FAMOUS with their superb rendition of this classic show on Saturday at HIS. A packed house enjoyed many superb performances that featured a plethora of HIS talent. The show could not have been successful without the never-ending help of our many PTA Wolfpack members led by Nami-san’s Costume Team. Thank you also to the PTA for their donation of lighting and sound equipment that fortified our performance.  The commitment from Staff, Students and HIS Families was exceptional. The memories will last forever. Many of our PTA Wolfpack members will be able to celebrate further at this week’s festive lunch at the Hilton on December 13. If you have not done so, please…

Welcome from James Steward It somehow seemed a slightly quieter week at HIS. That could be because we had a number of field trips on the go. Grade 3/4 was at the zoo. Grade 1/2 was harvesting sweet potatoes. Finally, Grade 5 was at Haji Dam for their camping trip. The Festive Eve FAME Team continues to practice and they are sounding great! It is less than a month away from the big show! This week, the PTA Wolfpack is preparing a German Hot Lunch. We are looking forward to some European tastes! Welcome from James Steward This week we were completely focused on Bonfire Night. Mr Chris’ class helped put us in a great mood with their hilarious assembly mid-week and an after-school hike into the hills behind HIS. The Festive Eve Costume Team was also sizing our younger cast members for FAME, as well.  But back to the main feature of the week, Bonfire Night. Yumiko san and Nigel sensei led a complete team effort. The action was non-stop in the HIS Kitchen. Vegetables were chopped, meat and fish cooked, and desserts prepared in preparation for the big event. Meanwhile wood was collected as Guy Fawkes awaited his fiery fate. When the fire was finally lit, the audience of almost 300 cheered and observed in awe. The bands began to play…

Welcome from James Steward I hope that all students were able to enjoy time with family during the October Break. Having stated this, both of our volleyball teams entered the break playing in their respective year end tournaments. Both teams enjoyed considerable success and ended the season on positive notes. Our girls played superbly, which bodes well for next year’s team with many players returning! Our boys’ team, led by many senior players, made it to the final again, and lost in the final game to Canadian Academy. To think HIS can play neck and neck with the ‘giants’ of volleyball is an amazing accomplishment. We congratulate all players for their amazing achievements throughout the season. We also must thank our incredible coaches, Masayo sensei and Mr B, for their…
