Welcome from James Steward

Thank you to the PTA Wolfpack for their outstanding Hot Bento Lunch this past Tuesday; it was superb! The supreme organization and care that went into preparing this sensational treat was amazing.

With the growing number of students, teachers and classes at HIS, our timetable becomes evermore complex!  We anticipate making some school timetable changes soon. While these changes will be accessible in TODDLE, teachers per division and grade will also communicate these where required.

I have been noticing a lot of Japanese Baseball Jerseys being worn recently. Clearly, we have plenty of Carp and Tigers fans at HIS. Let’s look forward to some fun times during the coming playoffs.

I hope you have a fine week ahead!

Miyajima Gratitude from Alina Hird in G12

Hello! I’m Alina Hird from G12. I organised a beach clean-up at Miyajima during the summer break on June 29th. I wanted to share the results and thank everybody who joined (sorry this message is a few weeks late)! As a team of 15 people, we managed to collect over 10 bags worth of trash including styrofoam from the floats in the ocean and pet bottles left by tourists, as well as several larger objects such as paint cans and a rice cooker and shards of glass that are dangerous for bare feet. The Environment Group of the Miyajima government branch were very thankful that we cleaned up a less popular part of the island. Thank you again to everyone who helped, and I hope you had a fruitful experience!

Alina Hird, G12

Coffee Morning Success

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much to those who could attend our first Coffee Morning this week for MYP and DP combined. We hope it was a valuable opportunity to learn more about the Programme and to open a dialogue with us, the coordinators, for any questions you might have.

We will share a Google Form asking for some feedback and suggestions, as well as opening a space to ask any questions that may not have been answered on the day. The links to the presentations will be shared along with this Form.

Please have a look, as all feedback helps us to make the next session as valuable as possible.

Kind wishes,

The Secondary Team

From the PTA Wolfpack

We had a great Hot Lunch last week. Thank you to everyone who ordered lunch, and a BIG thank you to everyone who helped cook! We will be sending out a survey to get feedback on how the event went, please check your emails for the survey.

This week we have our first Wolfpack General Meeting of the year on Sept. 26th at HIS at 9:00. We will be sending out information about how to join the meeting online soon.

On Sept. 28 G8 will be baking Brownies for the bake sale. If you are a parent of a G8 student or are interested in baking and would like to help out, please email us at pta@hiroshima-is.ac.jp. We need help from 9:00 – 1:30 with baking and cleaning up.

We are collecting snacks and treats to use for the Halloween Costume Parade during school and to give out at the Trunk or Treat that night. If you would like to donate treats please drop them off in the box in the Genkan by October 24. Please no snacks or treats with nuts due to allergies of students.

Reminder- HIS is looking for Parent Volunteers to help with shelving books and other similar tasks. They need two volunteers to help in the library every Monday and two volunteers every Tuesday from 9:00-10:50 am for the Fall semester. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at pta@hiroshima-is.ac.jp.
